Importing a project from an Xray export

Importing a project from Xray is accessible from the Administration workspace, by clicking on the Projects submenu.
It is used to import a project from an XML export of an Xray project into Squash TM.
Click on the desired target project to display the project consultation page.

Information

Only an administrator or project manager can import a project.

The Imports anchor Information can be used to view and create new imports.

Retrieving an XML export from Xray

You can retrieve the issues to be imported from the Jira ticket search in the Issues tab, then Search Issues.

By clicking on the Advanced button, it is possible to use the advanced search which allows to filter issues.

  • project = "PROJECT_NAME": to retrieve issues from a project.

  • issuetype in ("ISSUE_TYPE_1", "ISSUE_TYPE_2", …): to retrieve only issues of the desired types.

You can export the filtered issues by clicking on the Export button and choosing XML. After the XML file has been generated, it can be saved with the Ctrl+S or Right click and Save as.

Manage data imports from Xray

Schedule an import

From the imports table, click on add icon to schedule the data import.

When importing a project, you must fill in the Name of import field and choose the XML file(s) exported from Xray. You can remove a file from the list by clicking on the red cross.

Analyse import

These files are then analysed and a summary of the various entities that will be created is provided.

Finally, a summary of the entities created can be downloaded, containing the various problems found during entity generation before launching the import.

View planned or completed imports

When an import is created, it is added to the imports list with the status Pending. Once the import begins, its status becomes Running.
It is possible to refresh the import status by clicking on the Refresh button.
When the import is executed successfully, the Successfully imported on field is updated and its status changes to Success. If a problem occurs, the import status changes to Failure. You can then download the error log with Download error log .

Cancel some planned imports

You can delete one or more rows from the table by selecting them and clicking on the Delete button. It is not possible to delete an import having the status Running.
